Day 31 – Hiking Day 27 – Friday
October 6 2017
Toronto Section K38.7
Walking Fern Side Trail to Toronto Section K21.5 22 Sideroad
Distance – 17.20 k
Time - 4:40
Today was one of the less attractive hikes. We passed through scrappy
forests with lots of trees and rotting branches lying on the ground; fields, woodlots, wet and muddy areas, and
mini boulders and lots of rock. The good part was it was only 17.2 k and we
were finished by 1:30 p.m. Weather was good, started around 12C and finished
around 17/18C. We are both feeling happy that we have 3 ½ days free of hiking
and hope that it will give our legs a chance to recover after all the steep
climbs of the past few days.
We are starting to notice much more colour. The problem is though, many
of the leaves have fallen to the ground so we are not sure how rich the colour
will appear.
Peter, Robin’s husband picked us up in the picturesque village of
Limestone and we headed back to the B & B to pick up our “stuff”. We don’t
travel light!!
We drove up to Britt and arrived with just enough sunlight left to load
up the boat for our journey over to the island. It was pretty dark when we
arrived but we soon had the boat
unloaded and everything carted up to the cottage. For the weekend we will be: Robin and Peter, Robin’s
mother, their 2 daughters, one boyfriend, one hiking buddy (that’s me), 2 cats,
and 1 papillon dog…..and loads of supplies!

ReplyDeleteIf you are still talking to each other, you must be "sisters" by now.
I think those yellow spikey bells are called "wild cucumbers", but don't eat them.
